Where can I go for a discovery tour/instructional ride somewhere in Los Angeles to see if I like to pilot?

I have read that, since I am considering being a commercial airline pilot, I should go on one of these instructional tour flights with an aviation school at my local airport in LA, but where would that be? LAX?

Also, how do I do this? Just show up one day? Find out the school and email them to set up an appointment?

Do you know how I can go about doing this? Please help me out by answering in detail.

Thanks so much! All answers are appreciated as long as they pertain to the question and do not contain negative language. =]

It and the AOPA website are great places to find information

Some AOPA members will take you up under a Mentor Program
